From the East Coast to the West Coast, the official start of winter has roared in with ferocity.

Parts of Oregon, Washington and Maine are enduring some of the worst snowstorms ever recorded. The little town of Eustis, Maine, got nearly 3½ feet of snow.

On the West Coast, Greyhound says it doesn't have any buses rolling in or out of Seattle because the company doesn't want to put passengers in any danger on icy roads. More than 100 stranded passengers are either stuck in the station or staying in homeless shelters overnight.

The good news in Chicago is that temperatures will be on the rise Tuesday -- up into the 20's. Several inches of snow are also in the forecast.

There are tens of thousands of power outages across the country. In some places, the power has been out for more than week.
