Parts of KAKEland could see severe weather today.
The Storm Prediction Center has placed a portion of South Central and Southeast Kansas under a moderate risk of severe weather. A larger area of the state is under a slight risk of severe weather. The threat includes the possibility of large hail, damaging winds, and tornadoes.
At 5:00 p.m., storms with large hail moved through Elk and Chautauqua Counties. A tornado warning was issued, but there was no report of a tornado touching down.
A tornado watch is in effect until 10 p.m. Wichita is in the watch area.
Much of Central Kansas is under a wind advisory until 6 p.m.
