The number of heat-related deaths this year in the Kansas City region has risen to 12.
The Kansas City health department said Friday that the Jackson
County medical examiner confirmed eight more deaths this year were
related to heat. Another 10 deaths are still being investigated.

The department noted that the deaths were not only in Jackson
County or Kansas City. The county's medical examiner has agreements
with several jurisdictions on the Missouri side of the Kansas City
metropolitan region to investigate the deaths.
