.      Our Education Endowment provides annual grants for educational programs that are beyond the budget constraints of our district. USD 373 has partnered with the Newton Community and Healthcare Foundation, which provides a means for investing the money without restrictions and for obtaining a higher rate of return than regular district funds.

The Middle School Social, Tutorial and Recreational Support (MS STARS) program is an after-school program that gives middle schoolers a safe place to go for activities and tutorial assistance. This program has been funded for three years by a 21st Century Grant and that funding will no longer be available after this year. Our district is looking for alternative funding to keep this program operational.

The FIRST Robotics program is in its second year and needs additional funding to supplement the grant it has received from NASA and the Kansas Space Grant Consortium. The program has about thirty students participating. The students will build a robot and enter it in competition. Regional competitions are held nationwide. Last year our team competed at St. Louis and took 15th place.
