Hundreds of Kansas child are only wishing for one thing in the New Year: a family.

10-year-old Destiny is a foster child looking to start off 2012 with a forever home.

She is a creative third-grader who enjoys every subject in school. Destiny said she want to be a baker or firefighter when she grows up.

“I’m strong,” she said.

It takes a strong child to move through 10 foster homes in 10 years. But she said she hopes to spend next Christmas with a family of her own.

“I want to stay in my own place,” she said.
