Wichita, Kan. (KAKE) -The looting and violence we’ve seen in Wichita are not a part of the peaceful protests in support of change for African Americans in our country. Members of the Black community in our area say the narrative must be about social change and ending racism not looting and violence.

Some members of the African American community we spoke with say, our country has racial injustices that need to be dealt with.

They feel the looting and violence take attention away from what is really important… Equal justice for all, including those in Black America.

“Some people really want change and justice for Black people all across the country you know, and an end to systemic racism, and some people are inciting riots and have their own personal agendas as well,” said Bryce Graham, owner of the Shock Shop Barbershop.

“When you loot you’re affecting innocent people that don’t have anything to do with the police violence or anything like that,” added Bishop Wade Moore, Urban Preparatory Academy.

The message those who support the peaceful protests don’t want lost is what they call injustice toward Blacks.

“Things like this have been happening too much and far too long and that the community as a whole we’re tired of those things happening,” Moore added.
