Woman killed, man hurt in rollover crash in Kansas

Authorities say a 23-year-old Arizona woman died and a man suffered serious injuries in a rollover crash in western Kansas.

The accident happened at around 12:50 a.m. Wednesday on Highway 40 about 10 miles west of Sharon Springs. The Kansas Highway Patrol says Serena Hernandez was driving westbound when her Honda Civic went into a ditch. She over-corrected, went across both lanes of traffic and entered the opposing ditch where the car rolled an unknown number of times.

Hernandez died shortly after the crash. Her 21-year-old passenger, Andres Ramirez Carreon, was taken to a local hospital for treatment. Both are from Tucson.

The patrol's online crash log says Hernandez and Ramirez Carreon were wearing seat belts.
