GARDEN PLAIN, Kan. (KAKE) -

Authorities say a 33-year-old man who died in a crash in western Sedgwick County on Monday was driving too fast for conditions.

The accident happened just before 8 a.m. Monday on westbound U.S. 54 at 327th Street, which is just west of Garden Plain.

The Kansas Highway Patrol says Arnold Thompson III, was heading east and was going too fast for the icy and foggy conditions when his Toyota Tundra slid off the roadway, went through the median, struck a guard rail and overturned.

Thompson, of Cadiz, Ohio, died at the scene. The patrol says he was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
