Multiple fire agencies are fighting wildfires in at least two Kansas counties.

The Cowley County Emergency Communications Director says dispatch was notified of a significant grass fire northwest of Maple City and east of Arkansas City at round 1 p.m. on Wednesday.

Shortly after the initial call, multiple drivers continued to call with similar reports. Arkansas City and Dexter fire crews initially responded but there are now seven agencies working together.

The fire is spreading northbound but its mostly remote farmland with few structures. Residents have been alerted but no evacuations have been made.

Additionally, the National Weather Service says another wildfire is spreading in Greenwood County, northwest of Eureka and north of Highway 54.

KAKE has dispatched crews to both counties to gather more information.

A large grass fire east of Salina has been contained, the Salina Post reports.
