Why you shouldn’t abbreviate 2020 when signing documents

Posted: Updated:

A police department in Maine is sharing some advice when is comes to abbreviating 2020 on legal documents.

The East Millinocket Police Department says when signing and dating legal documents this year, don't just use '20 for the year 2020.

Here's an example:  When you date something 1/3/20, it can be changed to 1/3/2007, 1/3/2014, etc.

"This is very sound advice and should be considered when signing any legal or professional document. It could potentially save you some trouble down the road," the department said.
