Wins for Kansas: The Phoenix

After treatment to get sober, it can be tough to know where to turn next. That's when this week's “Wins for Kansas” winner steps in.

Since 2006, The Phoenix says they've helped more than 26,000 people rise from the ashes of addiction.

"We are a free sober active community for those who have struggled with a substance use disorder or who choose to lead a sober life,” says Wichita engagement coordinator, Bri Schrader.

When people make the choice to live a sober life, The Phoenix helps to provide resources and support with the help of mentors who know what it's like.

"Our instructors are individuals in recovery themselves and have been through the struggles that the individuals that come through the doors have been through,” says Schrader.

Which is huge for people looking to get sober, something that can be intimidating for some.

"It's important to know that you have that connection. That that individual has been in your shoes before and also for them to see what recovery can look like,” says Schrader.

To help with their mission, KAKE TV and our partners DeVaughn James Injury Lawyers are honored to have them as this week's, “Wins for Kansas.”
