Doctor convicted of groping woman during flight

A Mississippi doctor has pleaded guilty to groping a sleeping woman during a flight from New York to Memphis.

Recently unsealed court records show Dr. Rajesh Subramanya was convicted Thursday of misdemeanor simple assault. The Memphis Commercial Appeal reports the pediatrician was sentenced to pay a $3,000 fine, serve one year of probation and leave the U.S.

An affidavit written by an FBI agent says the victim reported Subramanya slipped his hand under her bra. Subramanya told agents the victim was leaning toward his seat and he took it to mean she "welcomed his touch." He didn't return the newspaper's request for comment.
