Company surprises employees with $10 million in bonuses at holiday party

A large commercial real estate firm in Baltimore has announced it will pay a $10 million bonus to divide among all 198 of its employees.

According to WJW, St. John Properties said the bonuses are to celebrate the company’s goal of developing 20 million square feet of office, flex/RD&D, retail and warehouse space in eight states

The gifts were tucked into red envelopes. Each worker was given during the company's holiday party. And it was all caught on video.

Some bonuses could top six figures, depending on tenure, the Baltimore Business Journal reports. The average employee will receive $50,000.

"To celebrate the achievement of our goal, we wanted to reward our employees in a big way that would make a significant impact on their lives,” company founder and chairman Edward St. John said. “I am thankful for every one of our employees for their hard work and dedication. I couldn’t think of a better way to show it.”

The bonus will be paid out in addition to the company’s annual year-end bonus, as well as other benefits
