BUTLER COUNTY, Kan. (KAKE) -

Authorities say three people who died Saturday night in a crash near El Dorado have not yet been positively identified.

It happened at around 9:40 p.m. at SW 50th Street and Haverhill Road. Butler County Sheriff Kelly Herzet said a northbound car was driving at a high rate of speed, crossed the center line and struck another car head-on.

Both cars caught fire, and the three people involved died at the scene.

Sheriff Herzet said the victims were burned beyond recognition, and authorities may need DNA or dental records to identify them.
