The Derby Panthers are state champs once again.

For the second straight season they are adding on to a crowded trophy case at Derby High School with their 63-26 victory over Olathe North on Saturday.

The Panthers set a 6A state title game scoring record with 63. The previous record was 49.

Derby also finished with a whopping 674 yard of offense in the victory.

It's the third state championship for the Panther football program in four years.

"This group of seniors were a blast to have as freshman and that's usually not the case every year,'' said head coach Brandon Clark. "You kind of have to teach the freshmen some stuff. Show them the way but these guys were so locked in."

"Before the game we were talking about leaving our legacy and being one of the best teams that's ever come through Kansas," senior running back Tre Washington said. "We just went out there and tried to execute and do that. "
