Andover Central preps for 2nd state title game appearance

Andover Central is making their second ever appearance in the state title game this weekend under first year head coach Derek Tuttle.

The Jaguars need a victory over powerhouse Bishop Miege to take home the 4A championship.

Andover Central enters this contest 11-1 with their only defeat coming at the hands of Maize South.

The Jaguars are led by a group of dynamic and experienced play makers like Xavier Bell, Matt Macy, and Trey DeGarmo to name a few.

AC has a few players on the team who helped win a state title in basketball last year, an experience they plan to use to their advantage on Saturday.

"I think a lot of it is the mental edge when you get to this point," Tuttle told KAKE. "You look at your kids and do they have that determination to succeed no matter what and that fight, resilience to keep going no matter what adversity you face. We've been very good at that this year and our opponents are good at that too. They've been in the state title game multiple times in a row they are in good position as far as that goes. It's been a great journey the kids have really embraced the preparation this week and we're really excited about getting going tomorrow."
