Thanksgiving deals bring shoppers out early

Posted: Updated:

Before the turkey could get cold, hundreds of Wichita shoppers were out the door Thursday to line up outside of their favorite stores.

"My sister and my mom are at another store waiting in line so we all split up," said Kadence Brewster as she got a head start on her Christmas shopping.

Several stores around Wichita like Best Buy, Target, and Carters open their doors early Thursday evening and offered special deals for Thanksgiving shoppers.

The National Retail Federation estimated nearly 40 million people would consider shopping on Thanksgiving, and 68 million are expected to take advantage of online bargains.

For some shoppers in Wichita, waiting in line on Thanksgiving is part of their family traditions.

"I used to get hot cocoa and wait outside of Kohl's with my grandma and step mom, and it was probably one of my favorite things," said Tatum Formsma.
