Four children killed on Thanksgiving in Republic County crash

REPUBLIC COUNTY, Kan. (KAKE) -

The Kansas Highway Patrol says four children have been killed in a wreck in Republic County.

The incident happened around 11:30 a.m. on Thursday. KHP responded to a call for assistance with a vehicle that had gone off the road into a pond near 30 Road and Highway U36. 

Upon arrival, first responders found an adult male and an injured female. Additionally, four children died at the scene:  Ronald, 12, Travis, 9, Moses, 6 and Axton, 8 months.

The injured female was identified as the mother and transported to Salina Hospital. 

The investigation is ongoing and the adult male is being questioned.
