Wichita police arrest teen after woman hurt in drive-by shooting

WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) -

Police say they've arrested a 17-year-old boy who was in possession of a handgun after they responded to a drive-by shooting.

Officers responded shortly before 7 p.m. Monday to a shooting call in the 1600 block of North Green, near Grove. A 37-year-old woman sustained a gunshot would to the shoulder and was treated at a local hospital.

Wichita police said in a news release that the victim had just been dropped off when a vehicle occupied by multiple people drove by the home and someone inside fired multiple shots.

Officers found that a teen resident was in possession of a handgun. He was booked into juvenile detention for criminal possession of a firearm by a juvenile. 

Police have not announced any arrests connection to the victim's injury.
