Some travelers leaving early for Thanksgiving destinations

WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) -

This is the busiest week of travel in the entire year, and it's causing some stress for travelers.

Passenger traffic at the Dwight D Eisenhower airport is up about 6 percent over last year, and last year was a record year.

Wednesday is shaping up to be the busiest day of travel, but also one of the worst for weather conditions.

Deboarah Steel is going to Idaho to see her son she hasn't seen in two years, she has to pass through Denver, and is thanking her lucky stars she chose to fly out today.

"I'm very happy I decided to fly out today because I have concerns. My son has come up here from Idaho and he was stopped in denver because of the snow," says Steel.

If you're driving to your destination, it might be a good idea to head out early if you can.
