Wins for Kansas: Midian ShrinePosted: Updated:
“The shrine is an organization created in 1870 for fellowship. In 1922 we started forming our hospitals,” says Potentate Norm Conley.
From fraternity to charity...the Midian Shrine dedicates their time to helping sick people and their caregivers from 22 Kansas counties get to the hospital.
"We have 49 of our, we call them nobles, members and 14 ladies that drive our hospital vans between Wichita, places in western Kansas and St. Louis which is our main hospital,” says Conley.
Their transportation fund, called The Plane of Mercy, is set up to make sure drivers have vans to take people to St. Louis and beyond.
"It's very heartwarming. And as a driver I can tell you it makes you feel really good when you drive a caregiver and their patient to the hospital. It's a humbling experience."
To help with their mission, KAKE and our partners, DeVaughn James Injury Lawyers are honored to have them as this week’s, “Wins for Kansas.”
