A 52-year-old Colorado man has died after authorities say a tractor-trailer crashed into his vehicle, sending it into a guard rail.

It happened at around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday on Interstate 70 in Gove County. The Kansas Highway Patrol says a semi struck an Chevy Silverado in the right westbound lane near Quinter. The pickup was pushed across the westbound lanes and into a guard rail.

The pickup caught fire and "was completely destroyed," the patrol's online crash log states. The driver, Hugo Gonzales, of Wheat Ridge, died at the scene.

The 52-year-old driver of the tractor-trailer was not hurt.
