Part of Joyland restored: Carousel Pavillion opening at Botanica

Posted: Updated:

The only savable part of Joyland was just given new life.

In just under two weeks, the new Carousel Pavillion at Botanica will be all lit up and ready for riders.

The carousel is set to open during Botanica's illuminations on November 29th.

Rides will be given from noon to 4 p.m. at three dollars a spin.

It's taken five years and 2.4 million dollars to restore the carousel, but Botanica's Executive Director says the smiles it'll bring are priceless.

"We try to take what we have and we turn it into a miracle just like the seasons change and its a miracle what happens here but it doesn't happen without people," says Marty Miller, exec director of Botanica

The Koch Foundation has given a big donation to what will be called the Koch Carousel Gardens: the next phase of this project.
