A domestic violence shooting in south Wichita ended with a man dead and a woman critically hurt. Wichita police are investigating the shooting as a "domestic violence aggravated battery incident."

Someone who lives at an apartment complex in the 2800 block of South Emporia called police to report a couple fighting at around 11:15 Saturday night. During the fight, police say the 23-year-old boyfriend shot at his 23-year-old girlfriend.

When officers arrived, they contacted the woman by phone. Officers forced their way into the apartment after she started screaming, and they heard another gunshot.
