Beauty academy owners want answers after car crashes into building

Operators of Crave Beauty Academy in Wichita are in need of answers after a driver slammed into the business about a month ago.

Yellow caution tape and debris now replace where pillars once stood at the academy.

"When we enter our building, this is what we see," says Senior Director at Crave Beauty Academy.

Peters says one of her employees first saw the car in the building on an early morning last month.

"It was shocking to see."

Surveillance video shows a man, believed to be the driver, crashing a car into the side of the building.

"He actually came through the rock area, struck the pillars. It's a good thing that he wasn't just a little bit farther over or it would've come through the entire front of the building," says Peters.

But he didn't drive away. He left the car at the scene and walked through the parking lot as he made a phone call.

"He was walking fairly confidently and just talking like nothing happened...Somebody took a phone call at 1:45 in the morning from somebody who said I just hit a building and my car's trashed," says Peters.

Peters says when police were called, they came out, investigated and had the car impounded. They would only tell us an investigation is ongoing. That's why Peters is now asking for the public's help in finding the person responsible.

"We can't move forward with having it fixed until the case is rectified."

Employees can't so much as even move any of the debris or pickup the knocked down "enter" sign until the case is closed, meaning clients, students and staff have to see the damage everyday.

"For somebody to be so disrespectful... it's so aggravating. We are a small business, we are family owned and operated......"
