K-State WR Wykeen Gill could miss Saturday after being blindsided against Texas

MANHATTAN, Kan. (KAKE) -

K-State wide receiver Wykeen Gill has really started to find his role in K-State's offense. In the last four games he has nine catches for 115 yards and two touchdowns.

But because of an illegal hit against Texas, Gill might be out this Saturday.

In the fourth quarter of K-State's eventual loss to Texas, Gill was blindsided on a hit from from Texas defensive back Jalen Green.

There wasn't initially a flag but after a review Green was kicked out of the game for targeting, and he will miss the first half this Saturday.

"I saw it on the replay. I brought the officials over because I wanted them to look at it. I didn't know if it was going to be looked at because there was no flag. I asked them to look at it, and he (official) was great and said, 'Yeah Coach, we'll go upstairs and take a look at it," said K-State football coach Chris Klieman. "It's unfortunate because it was away from the play, didn't have anything to do with the play. Wykeen's going to miss a game. You have a hit like that and someone only misses a half, I don't think that's very fair."
