LARNED, Kan. (KAKE) -

A central Kansas sheriff says charges have been filed against two people in the shooting death of a puppy.

The 4- to 5-month-old male put bull was found July 31 on O Road between 110th and 120th roads, which is less than a mile north of Larned. It had been shot eight times with a .22-caliber firearm and was later euthanized at a vet clinic.

The sheriff's office in August posted photos of the dog, while it was still alive, on its Facebook page.

Pawnee County Sheriff Scott King said formal charges against the two suspects will be read next week.
