Record setting cold in KAKEland

An arctic cold front has plunged temperatures across the Eastern half of the United States and as a result many communities in KAKEland set record morning lows Tuesday. 

Just before 7am Tuesday morning, the temperature at Eisenhower National Airport in Wichita dipped to 8°, breaking the old record of 9° set in 1911. Records from 1911 were also broken in Salina, Medicine Lodge, Dodge City and Garden City.

Warmer temperatures are expected the remainder of the week.
