OVERBROOK, Kan. (KAKE) -

Authorities say an 8-year-old girl has died and three other people were hurt in a crash in icy conditions in eastern Kansas.

The crash happened at around 8 a.m. Monday on Route 56 near Overbrook. The Kansas Highway Patrol told KTKA that a Dodge pickup was heading west when the driver lost control on the icy road.

The pickup crossed the center line and hit a Ford SUV head-on. A red car then rear-ended the SUV.

Eight-year-old Cassie Ralston, of Scranton, was transported to a Topeka hospital where she was pronounced dead.

The patrol's online crash log says three other people were hospitalized:  the 43-year-old woman driving the Dodge pickup, her 14-year-old passenger, and the 52-year-old man driving the Ford Edge.
