Gusty winds cause power outages in Wichita area

WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) -

Gusty winds are blamed for a series of power outages in the Wichita area this morning. 

Evergy reports numerous outages in Wichita, Goddard and Andover.   Nearly 2,000 customers in the Andover area lost power this morning.  At 7:45 a.m. more than 900 customers were without power south of Haysville.   Another 700 customers lost power in the Garden Plain area.   There are numerous smaller outages in the Wichita area.  

Wind gusts have topped 50 miles per hour this morning.  KAKE Meteorologist Frank Waugh said the winds should die down this afternoon.
