Speed may have been a factor in a deadly crash in southeast Wichita.

The accident took place around 11:50 p.m. Friday at Mt. Vernon and Bluff, which is located between Hillside and Oliver. A driver was heading east on Mt. Vernon and lost control, Wichita Police told KAKE News. The vehicle crashed into a light pole, pulling it from the ground. Based on initial analysis, it looks like speed played a role in the crash.

The driver, a 59-year-old man, died at the scene. He's been identified as Sylvester Curry.
