WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) -

Wichita police say they are searching for a 25-year-old documented gang member who is wanted for attempted murder and other crimes.

Police said in a Facebook post on Friday that Tyreese L. Atkinson Jr., is considered armed and dangerous and should not be approached. In addition to two Sedgwick County warrants for attempted second-degree murder, Atkinson is also wanted for criminal possession of a firearm, possession of marijuana, and flee and elude.

The Facebook post did not give specifics of the alleged crimes. Officer Paul Cruz said Atkinson's attempted murder warrants are related to a shooting near Harry and Woodlawn on July 8, 2018.

Anyone with information is asked to call 911, the Wichita Police Department's gang unit at (316) 268-4191 or Crime Stoppers at (316) 267-2111.

Kansas Department of Corrections records show Atkinson spent time on probation and in prison for convictions of aggravated escape, theft and burglary.
