No left turns on 13th and Perry, businesses suffering

WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) -

The city is trying a new tactic in trying to make 13th street safer in Riverside, but some nearby business owners say it's causing problems for them.

City engineers looked back at the number of accidents at 13th and Perry since 2016. They found 8 crashes all caused by someone turning left... that might seem low, but the city says compared to other intersections that's high.
These cones were installed on Monday to ensure no left turns on this street to make it safer.

The change is already causing some frustration for drivers, and even some businesses to suffer.

This project will be monitored for 6 months, before the city decides if it's an effective solution.
