Man arrested after razor blades found in kids’ Halloween baskets

WATERBURY, Conn. (KAKE) -

Police say a 37-year-old man is in custody after Connecticut residents reported finding razor blades in their children’s Halloween baskets.

WTNH reports that Waterbury police received multiple reports Thursday night of loose razor blades being found in candy baskets. None were found inside the candy.

Jason Racz was arrested and charged with risky of injury to a minor, reckless endangerment and interfering with a police officer. According to police, Racz claimed the razor blades were accidentally spilled or put into the bowl he used to hand out the candy.

Police also determined the 3-year-old living at the home had access to a box of razor blades.

No injuries have been reported. Police are asking residents to check their kids' candy.
