13-year-old Garden City student facing possible charges for making school threat

GARDEN PLAIN, Kan. (KAKE) -

A Garden City middle school student could face charges after making a school threat. 

A news release from the Garden City Police Department says the incident happened at around 1:30 p.m. on Monday.  GCPD officers responded to a call at Kenneth Henderson Middle School were a student had allegedly made a threat towards the school students and staff.

Throughout the investigation, officers learned that multiple students at the school had told administrators that they heard another student comment on "shooting up the school."

A 13-year-old 7th grade student was suspended after admitting to making the comment. An affidavit will be filed with the Finney County Attorney's Office requesting charges of criminal threat.
