Kansas teen killed, another hurt in rollover crash

Authorities say a teenager has died and another suffered serious injuries in a rollover crash in southwest Kansas.

The accident happened just after 6 p.m. Sunday about 14 miles north of Rolla in Morton County. The Kansas Highway Patrol says 16-year-old Edgar Rodriguez was driving east on a county road when his SUV became unstable and went off the right side of the road. The SUV entered a ditch and overturned, ejecting Rodriguez.

Rodriguez, of Hugoton, was taken to a local hospital where he later died. The patrol's online crash log states he was not wearing a seat belt. 

A 16-year-old passenger was hospitalized for treatment of serious injuries. He was wearing a seat belt.
