Sooner Schooner crashes during Oklahoma's homecoming game

NORMAN, Okla. (AP) -

KTUL has reported that. during the University of Oklahoma's homecoming game today, their Sooner Schooner tipped over while making a sharp turn on the field.

The crash happened after the Sooners' fourth touchdown of the game against the West Virginia Mountaineers.

According to officials at the University of Oklahoma, there were no injuries to riders or the horses.

The OU athletic department said in a statement that the three people were evaluated by medical personnel at the stadium and released with no serious injuries. Veterinarians and horse handlers checked the horses, Boomer and Sooner, and said that they appeared uninjured as well.

The Sooner Schooner is an official mascot of the sports teams of the University of Oklahoma Sooners.
