The wait is over:  Trader Joe's officially opened its doors on Friday in east Wichita. Many customers say they couldn't be more pleased.

Some customers say the grocery store is just what east Wichita needed, "Well we've been waiting for a long time for Trader Joe's to come to Wichita," says Jimi Nickel, Wichita resident.   "I think it definitely draws people from the surrounding communities because it's packed full."

The Trader Joe's grand opening was filled with games, face-painting and music; even a party bus showed up and a dozen people filed out to see what the health-food market had to offer.

"A little pandemonium, but it's great. It's good for the city of Wichita," says Don, Wichita resident

Before the addition of Trader Joe's, the south end of Bradley Fair was nearly empty. Neighboring businesses told KAKE News the grocery store couldn't have come at a better time. The new store also means many Trader Joe's customers won't have to travel hours to get their hands on the merchandise.

"I'm very excited because normally I drive to Kansas City, so I'm ready to shop," says Lori Guzman, Wichita resident.

Even though check-out lines were backed up, most shoppers left with what they came for.

"And they're keeping everything stocked well which is nice," says Brenda Fleming, Wichita resident.
