Police find driver involved in hit-and-run near Wichita State University

WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) -

Police say they have located the driver involved in a reported hit-and-run that injured a 26-year-old woman near Wichita State University. 

It happened at around 1 p.m. at 17th Street North and Fairmount. Wichita State Police Chief Rodney Clark told The Sunflower that the WSU student was hit by a car while crossing 17th Street. 

She was taken to a local hospital in critical condition. 

Officer Charley Davidson with the Wichita Police Department said Thursday morning that the woman was in stable condition and the vehicle, described as a small red car with a broken windshield, and 79-year-old driver had been located. No arrests have been made at this time. 

Police said the woman was not using the crosswalk.
