Police identify man killed in wrong-way crash in west Wichita

WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) -

Wichita police have identified a man who was killed in a wrong-way crash on West Kellogg. 

Emergency crews responded at around 4:15 a.m. Wednesday to an accident in the eastbound lanes of Kellogg at Maize Road. Officer Charley Davidson said 72-year-old Stephen McClain was driving westbound in the eastbound lanes when his Kia Sportage collided head-on with a Chevy Silverado. 

McClain died at the scene. The 50-year-old driver of the Chevy was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. 

The crash is still under investigation. 

Traffic in the area was shut down through the morning commute. It was reopened just before 9 a.m.
