WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) -

A 57-year-old man who was injured in a motorcycle crash in north Wichita over the weekend has died.

Staff at Ascension Via Christi confirmed Tuesday that Michael Ralls had died. The Kansas Highway Patrol says Ralls' motorcycle crashed into a barrier wall on I-135 near 13th Street North at around 3:20 p.m. Saturday.

A trooper told KAKE News an "equipment failure" caused the crash.

"The rear tire on the motorcycle blew," said Lt. Dave Hundley.

Ralls then lost control and struck the outside barrier wall. Hundley also said it's important for drivers to watch out for motorcycles on the road.

"They're difficult to see," he  said. "They're easy to hide behind other vehicles. Obviously, this wasn't the case today, since it was a single-vehicle crash. But we always need to be on the lookout for motorcycles riding in our blind spots."

The patrol says Ralls was not wearing a helmet.
