Man arrested after chase, crash in Butler County

BUTLER COUNTY, Kan. (KAKE) -

Authorities say a man has been taken into custody after a chase and crash in Butler County. 

Dispatchers say it started around 1:10 p.m. when someone called 911 to report seeing a man trying to force a woman into a vehicle on Highway 254 near the Sedgwick/Butler county line. Deputies arrived and chased the suspect until he crashed at K-254 and Santa Fe Lake Road.

Dispatchers initially said the suspect fired at officers, but Sheriff Kelly Herzet said the sound of gunshots were coming from a nearby shooting range. He also said there was no abduction. 

The man, who is from Illinois, was treated for a dog bite. His name was not released.
