HUTCHINSON, Kan. (KAKE) -

A registered sex offender has been arrested in connection to an attempted mugging in Hutchinson.

The Hutchinson Police Department says officers responded to a robbery call near the Dillons located at 725 East 4th Avenue around 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday.

A female victim told police that she had walked into Dillons where an unknown suspect attempted to take her purse and pushed her to the ground. The victim was then dragged for several feet by her purse.

The suspect fled the scene after he was unable to take the purse. A tip led detectives to locate and arrest 25-year-old Trae Labre Taylor in connection to the incident at around 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday.

Taylor was arrested for attempted robbery and booked into the Reno County Correctional Facility. His bond was set at $10,000.

The investigation is ongoing.

Kansas Department of Corrections and KBI records show Taylor is on parole in Sedgwick County for a 2015 conviction of indecent liberties with a 15-year-old girl.
