KSHSAA releases classifications: Heights moves to 6A

The Kansas State High School Activities Association released classifications for high schools today,  and one Wichita City League school is moving up.

Wichita Heights moves from class 5A to 6A for non-football sports and activities for the 2019-20 season.

Other area schools changing classes:

3A:  Wichita Trinity, Lakin

2A:  Belle Plaine, Hill City, Chase County, Moundridge, Spearville

1A:  Meade, Ness City, Goessel,  Oberlin-Decatur Community

Wichita East remains the largest school in the state with a count of 2,431 students.  

Football classification changes for 2020-21

5A:  Goddard (from 4A), Hutchinson (from 6A)

4A:  Great Bend (from 5A)

3A:  SE of Saline (from 2A)

2A:  Belleville (from 1A), Beloit (from 3A), Ellis (1A), Haven (3A), Hillsboro (1A), Kingman (3A), Bluestem (1A), Marion (1A), Syracuse (1A)

1A:  Conway Springs (from 2A), Ellinwood (from 2A)
