WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) -

Wichita police say they've arrested a 31-year-old man for a stabbing at a motel on the west side.

Jail records show Garrett Akers was booked Wednesday morning for two counts of aggravated battery.

Officers responded at around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday to a cutting call at the Motel 6 at 5736 West Kellogg. They found a 25-year-old man with multiple stab wounds and a 26-year-old woman with a minor injury to her finger.

The man suffered serious injuries and remained hospitalized Thursday.

Police said in a news release that Akers arrived at a motel room occupied by his 26-year-old ex-girlfriend, the victim and another man and woman. During a fight, Akers allegedly pulled out a knife, stabbed the 25-year-old man and cut the 26-year-old woman.

Police say Akers then fled the scene. Officers were able to locate him and take him into custody without incident.
