Previous story:

Wichita police say a woman suffered serious injuries when she was stabbed multiple times in what investigators believe was a random attack.

Officers responded just before noon Monday to the report of a stabbing in the 7400 block of East 17th Street, west of Rock Road. Police say a 28-year-old woman was stabbed several times.

The victim was taken to a hospital where she remained in serious but stable condition on Tuesday.

Investigators on the scene said the woman was standing by her vehicle in front her home when a man approached and attacked her. The suspect then walked away heading west on 17th Street.

Surveillance video shows the suspect fleeing the area and apparently disposing of a shirt in a storm drain.

"At this point, with the evidence we've received, we believe this to be an unknown suspect and a random act," Officer Paul Cruz said.

Police are looking for a white man in his forties, 5-foot-9 and 140 pounds. He has blonde or brown short hair and a scruffy beard.
