Authorities say a one man was killed and another suffered serious injuries when a box truck blew a tire and rolled on a southeast Kansas highway.

It happened shortly after noon Thursday on Route 160 near Independence. The Kansas Highway Patrol says the straight box truck was heading east when the driver's side blew a tire. The truck then crossed into the westbound lane, went into a ditch and rolled several times. Two men inside were ejected.

The driver, 20-year-old Taylor Edwards, of Independence, died at the scene. The 52-year-old passenger was taken to a local hospital.
