WINFIELD, Kan. (KAKE) -

Police say a 21-year-old Winfield High School employee has been arrested and charged with a child sex crime.

Brenden Jantzen was arrested over the weekend and charged Wednesday with one count of indecent liberties with a child, a girl under the age of 16.

Winfield police said in a news release that a juvenile and a parent went to the department Sunday to report alleged incidents involving Jantzen. NewsCow reports Jantzen remained in custody Thursday.

According to the CourierTraveler, Jantzen is a custodian and also works in the in-school suspension program. He started working at the high school at the beginning of August.

The status of his employment will be up to the school board.
