WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) -

Police have arrested a 57-year-old suspect for the shooting death of a man in south Wichita nearly five years ago.

Jail records show James Leon Edwards was booked early Sunday morning for first-degree murder in commission of a felony and a parole violation. His bond for the murder count was set at $500,000. A booking report states he was arrested at 9th and Ash.

In October of 2014, officers responding to a shooting in the 1500 block of South Minnesota found Nathanial Ronnell Jackson dead from a gunshot wound.

Investigators believe Jackson was shot during an altercation.

Additional information about the arrest was not immediately available.

Kansas Department of Corrections records show Edwards is on parole for attempted possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He also has prior convictions of theft, aggravated battery and robbery. He was listed as an absconder on July 23.
