Parchment shines in KU win over Indiana StatePosted: Updated:
Some Big 12 teams were pushed to the brink on the first weekend of the college football season.
It took Iowa State three overtimes to beat Northern Iowa, West Virginia held off James Madison to win by 7, and Indiana State gave the Kansas all they could handle.
Kansas put together an 8-play 75 yard touchdown drive late in the 4th quarter to avoid the upset.
This game served as the coming out party for receiver Andrew Parchment.
The junior had 8 catches for 121 yards including a crucial 11 yard reception on 3rd and 6 to keep the game winning drive going.
"Andrew Parchment, I thought just played lights out," Les Miles said after the game. "Next time I see him I'm going to give him some kind of MVP award somehow. He responded with all of the talent and ability that we thought he had."
His performance was a long time coming after signing with the Jayhawks out of Iowa Central Community College.
"This roller coaster of emotions that I went through before the game, being in college football everything for me has been up and down up and down," Parchment said. "So I'm just blessed. Everything went my way and Kansas got the win."
